In our never-ending quest to embrace emerging technologies and understand the behaviors that propel them, we surveyed thousands of connected consumers in 2018 on topics ranging from the Connected Car and IoT (Internet of Things) to Mobile First and much more. - Over 30% who do not have a connected home device plan to make a purchase within the year
- Only 20% of consumers understand the term ‘Internet of Things’ yet nearly 70% own an IoT device
- 84% of people would like to monitor their utility usage in real-time with connected devices and the same amount would choose a utility provider based on that ability if given a choice
The Connected Car
- One-Half of consumers connect to the Internet in their car
- 1 out of 5 new car shoppers would walk away from a potential new purchase that featured everything they wanted in a car (price, brand, design, power, MPG, etc.) if it didn’t have the latest connected technology included
- 2 out of 3 respondents would switch from their current entertainment service provider of choice to one that was included with their vehicle
Mobile First!
- More than half of consumers would choose one company over another based on their mobile offering
- Nearly 3/4 say it is very important that a company they do business with has a great mobile experience
