Mobile App Developer Metova, Inc. Takes On Investors and Enters Government IT Services Arena

Metova Brand Now Encompasses Federal Services and Mobile Divisions

FRANKLIN, Tenn. Sept. 4, 2012 – Nashville’s leading custom mobile app developer Metova, Inc. has attracted new majority investors associated with an Arkansas-based company that provides IT services to the government market.

The Arkansas company, A4 Solutions, has been renamed Metova Federal Services and Metova has been rechristened Metova Mobile. The founder of A4 Solutions, John Adams, who spearheaded the investment in Metova, will serve as CEO of both companies. The president of Metova Mobile will be Metova founder Kevin Ross, who retains a significant equity interest in the company.

Where we Live

The Metova brand now employs 62 people in four cities and opens opportunities for aggressive future job growth—no layoffs are planned. In fact, Metova Mobile, which will remain in Nashville, is expected to continue adding employees in the coming months.

“We turned down a lot of potential investors over the past few years, but John and his company are a good fit for Metova because they complement and add to our existing business rather than offering more of the same,” Ross said. “This is a chance for us to get in on the ground floor of the adoption of mobile in the government space. We’re already well known within the commercial mobile market, and now we can take that experience to the government sector. We have the capabilities to hit the ground running and have an immediate impact.”

The newly named Metova Federal Services, formerly A4 Solutions, is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that provides information technology services and support to government entities. Headquartered in Cabot, Ark., Metova Federal Services also has an office in Augusta, Ga. and a significant presence in Washington D.C.

Expanded Market

The government mobile app market has grown rapidly within the last six months. In March, the Army launched its Army Software Marketplace prototype to deliver mobile training apps for soldiers to use on personal smartphones and tablets.

“With the coming formation of the Army Software Marketplace, the foundation will be there—they are building the roads, so to speak. This unprecedented ability to distribute mobile applications in the federal marketplace will provide vast growth and innovation opportunities for Metova,” said Ross.

“It’s exciting to think about the room for dramatic job growth this announcement offers,” said Dave McAllister, Metova’s vice president of operations and the person in charge of filling developer talent needs. “This means more high-tech jobs in Nashville as well as in Augusta and Arkansas. We expect to step-up our recruiting efforts immediately.”

Background & Experience

The new CEO of both Metova companies, Adams has over 23 years of military service, having retired from the Army in 2009. Throughout his career as an enlisted, warrant and commissioned officer, he was a recognized leader in communications and information technology. After retiring, he worked as the executive vice president for strategic initiatives and business solutions for a leading Department of Defense contracting company.

In 2011, he founded A4 Solutions in Cabot, Ark., near the Army National Guard’s national training center and 20 miles north of Little Rock. Adams, an Arkansas native, will head up the Cabot office.

“We looked at several custom mobile app developers during this process, and Metova was the perfect fit for us. It is 100 percent US owned and operated and provides all development in-house. They have a large realm of commercial customers and proven past performance,” Adams said. “Having worked within the military and government for the last 25 years and understanding the IT landscape, we feel that mobile apps are poised to grow leaps and bounds over the next two to four years, and Metova is well positioned to participate in this growth.”

Metova Federal Services’ Georgia outpost is located near the Army Signal Center of Excellence in Augusta. Kevin Hanner, who served as COO of A4 Solutions, will be COO of both companies under the Metova banner and will lead the Augusta office. Hanner retired from the military in 2008 after 24 years of service. He has over 27 years experience providing information technology services for the Federal Government, with expertise in network management, information assurance and training.

Growth of Leadership

Rounding out the executive leadership team is Bobby McKinnon, who joined the new Metova brand in August and will be president of Metova Federal Services. He most recently served as assistant program executive officer for the US Army’s Program Executive Office, Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), where he managed a diverse information technology portfolio focused on supporting the Army’s business needs in the areas of personnel, logistics, training, installation support, and mobilization. He comes to Metova with over 25 years of experience managing large, complex information technology projects. He will work out of the Washington D.C. area.
