Metova Announces iOS and Android Companion Apps for Yale Connected Home Hardware
Smartphone Apps Allow Users to Unlock Doors, See Visitors and More
FRANKLIN, Tenn. and CONWAY, Ark., May 3, 2017 – Metova, a world leading app development company with customers including Microsoft, Yale, eHarmony and Dropbox, today announced smartphone companion apps for the Yale Real Living® Look Door Viewer™ and Yale Real Living Assure Lock™ with Bluetooth®. The apps, available for iOS and Android, leverage advanced smartphone facilities, including the gyroscope, accelerometer and Bluetooth to provide users with a seamless and secure connected home experience.
The Yale Look Door Viewer replaces an old-fashioned peephole with a 4.3-inch LCD monitor, along with Wi-Fi connectivity that allows two-way live video communication with a smartphone running a companion app developed by Metova. A photo is automatically taken when a visitor pushes the built-in doorbell or when motion is sensed. Photos and videos are stored with timestamps on the unit’s micro SD card and within the companion mobile apps.
The Yale Assure Lock with Bluetooth® replaces conventional keys with digital keys accessed through the Yale Assure app for Android and iOS mobile devices. The Yale Assure app, developed by Metova, allows homeowners to send digital keys to others, control when each digital key holder has access, view recent access history or even permanently revoke a digital key at any time. Unlocking the Assure Lock with a smartphone is easy: a patented unlocking method called Twist & Go prevents unintended unlocking by requiring the user to rotate the phone 90 degrees before tapping a check mark on the keypad.
“Our Assure Lock with Bluetooth and Look Door Viewer combined with the two companion apps deliver a new level of security, convenience and versatility to homeowners,” said Jason Williams, President, ASSA ABLOY Residential Group, which includes Yale Residential. “We’re proud to offer homeowners these functional home devices and apps to allow them to manage their connected home.”
“At Metova we strive to create technologically advanced, intuitive applications to enable customers to accomplish tasks and simplify everyday activities,” said Ron Unger, Vice President of Technology at Metova. “Yale’s mobile apps for their new line of Internet of Things devices provide customers with a new level of visibility and control within the emerging connected home, allowing for more freedom and flexibility in their lives.”
