Jennifer Pike: Mother, Artist, Cloud Architect & Metova’s October 2022 Spotlight

Jack of all Trades, Mother, Artist, and Cloud Architect…these are a few of the qualities from our team member spotlight for the month of October! Jennifer Pike has been a team member at Metova for 11 years

Tell us a little bit about yourself, Jennifer!

How long have you been working at Metova?

Jennifer: 11 Years!..and like a month.

What exactly do you do here at Metova?

Jennifer: I do a little bit of everything- or have at one point. Currently, I am on our infrastructure team. I manage our AWS as well as our Kantata team.

What were you doing before Metova?

Jennifer: Before I joined Metova I was working at an animal hospital doing a little bit of everything over there. I actually majored in agriculture with a minor in animal science. I didn’t know what I was going to do with that. I graduated when the economy sucked and it was hard to find any job, so I got that job, and I enjoyed it. But, there wasn’t really any room to move or grow unless you went to school to become a vet tech, but they don’t get paid enough. Or you could go to school to become a veterinarian, but the chemistry side of that freaked me out a bit.

I think I’ve seen the video of your pony – do you have any other pets?

Jennifer: Yes, I have a pony! I also have a dog named trigger. He’s getting old, he’s just a little brown mut. I also have a caterpillar! The past couple of days he decided to turn into a little cocoon. Caterpillars are really cool pets by the way. They’re really easy to take care of – you just throw some leaves in there, they grow really fast. Super cool!

What would you say is the most unique part about working here?

Jennifer: The unique parts of working here are also the parts I really like about working here. The flexibility is really nice. Especially now that I have kids. I don’t know how people function in other jobs without the flexibility. Also, the transparency that Josh (Metova’s CEO) offers is unique also. It’s really great to know how the company is doing and his ability to keep us in the loop and be real with us and make us feel like we’re a part of Metova and not just workers here.

How would you describe your team?

Jennifer: That’d be Riley, Andrew and Samir – Smart! Really smart and helpful. Anytime I ever need anything, they’re always right there to help. My other team with David and Taylor is good too, we hire really great people.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment here?

Jennifer: At one point when I was in sales, I was part of a team that did $1M in sales in a month. I also got my AWS certification, which was an effort. I got my ad words certification back in the day. The biggest thing I got certified in was the Mavenlink/Kantata stuff.

What is it about you that most people don’t know.

Jennifer: I like to paint. I’ve done some acrylic pieces, but I’ve been mostly doing watercolor recently. I do it when I have the time, which is not a lot. Are there any podcasts that you enjoy recently?

Have you been enjoying any podcasts recently?

Jennifer:  I’ve been listening to books on tape mostly. I haven’t been listening to any podcasts in particular. I do tend to like murder mysteries, true crime.

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?

Jennifer: There is a really tasty spot in Murfreesboro for Barbecue called Fat Guy’s BBQ. It’s in a gas station. It’s not a gas station that sells barbecue, it’s a barbecue place that sells gas. The owner used to do competitive smoking, and his stuff is amazing!

What’s your favorite video game or board game?

Jennifer: I tend to like puzzle games a lot. If it’s a game that has inventory/ loot kind of things, I tend to be an addict.

Do you cook?

Jennifer: Yes! Well, I like to bake.

What’s your favorite thing to bake?

Jennifer: Cookies probably. I mean, I like to bake a lot of things. Cookies and brownies are my favorite things to eat, probably my favorite things to bake.

Pineapple pizza –  yay or now?

Jennifer: Yay! I was really disappointed when Gordon Ramsey said he wasn’t for pineapple pizza.

How would you spend $1 million in 24 hours?

Jennifer: I would pay off some debt. Pay off the house, and all of the things that I already owe on. I’d get a new car. I think a jeep would be cool. I don’t know I can’t think of enough things that would be equal to a million dollars. I’d probably buy a house and some property. That’d probably be the most effective way to spend a million dollars.

What skill do you think everyone should learn?

Jennifer: I think self evaluation and seeing things from other people’s viewpoints.

If you could get a new skill in 10-minutes what would it be?

Jennifer: To learn how to get any new skill in 10-minutes LOL!.

Thank you Jennifer! We appreciate all of your 11 years at Metova!
