Solving the Mobile Banking Security Crisis: CU Mobile Apps

(February 12, 2014)–Credit union members who have been troubled by recent news of their financial apps’ vulnerability to security breaches need worry no longer, according to CU Mobile Apps and its technology partner, Metova. The CU Mobile Apps-Metova partnership has announced a security solution that protects mobile transactions from hacking, theft and spyware attacks—a solution which is being provided free to all CU Mobile Apps credit union clients and their members.

Metova, a respected developer of mobile apps for the U.S. military and other institutions and agencies for whom security is paramount, has partnered with SnoopWall® vendor of state-of-the-art, anti-malware software and has built this technology into the mobile app currently in use by all CU Mobile Apps credit union clients, said Metova CEO John Adams. “Security issues are a huge concern right now, especially with regard to mobile devices used for banking and credit union transactions,” Adams noted. “Current anti-virus software cannot prevent data access from your phone’s camera, for example. Our exclusive arrangement enables us to provide a version of SnoopWall’s groundbreaking patent pending technology that has been designed specifically for CU Mobile Apps and its clients.”

Metova’s cyber security officer Ken Groombridge is one of an elite group of global security professionals: a Global Security Expert (GSE), a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Global Certified Intrusion Analyst (GCIA). “We’re very excited to be the first to market with this type of counterveillance technology,” Groombridge said. “This revolutionary spyware blocking technology provides defense against cyberspying, snooping, and stealing so credit union clients can enjoy peace of mind.”

SnoopWall president and founder Gary S. Miliefsky developed the new SnoopWall blocking technology to take over where typical firewall and antivirus software fail to detect malware, providing secure protection for computer, tablet, and smartphone users.

“SnoopWall acts as a gatekeeper for access to high-risk dataports,” explains Miliefsky, “including your webcam and microphone, which are susceptible to being infected with malicious code used by cyber intruders. The program will alert users in real time of existing high-risk programs and applications, and block new ones from embossing malware on your device. By detecting and blocking malware, SnoopWall is your best defense for preventing personal information from getting into the hands of identity thieves and cyber snoops.”

According to Adams, when he recognized the need to enhance the security inside the CU Mobile Apps product, he approached Miliefsky, a technology partner, with the idea of putting “a piece of SnoopWall” inside the mobile app to offer clients the same security that SnoopWall provides.

Through an arrangement with Miliefsky, the SnoopWall team created a “SnoopWall Lite” version that was integrated into the CU Mobile Apps product and can be activated by members with the touch of a button on their mobile device if they choose to protect their credit union account. The full version of SnoopWall, which protects other apps on the user’s mobile device, is also available for purchase as an upgrade.

“We are pleased and proud to ensure that CU Mobile Apps will be the exclusive provider of the SnoopWall technology for credit unions,” said Tom Gray, managing partner of Member Service Solutions (MSS), the creator of CU Mobile Apps. “No other technology worldwide can duplicate what SnoopWall’s revolutionary features can do on a mobile unit.”

“Convenience has always been a key feature of our highly customizable app— our clients rely on the convenience of their mobile devices and we have been working to ensure that they can rely on the security of their mobile transactions, as well,” said Gray.
“Although recent studies indicate that mobile credit union and banking apps are 90% exposed to security breaches, our new embedded SnoopWall feature now provides a level of security no other mobile app can offer. CU Mobile Apps clients can rest assured that they will not be spied on, listened to, or have their phone camera’s images of sensitive account information accessed by others,” he concluded.
