Software Developer Profile: Meet Jack Bailey

Jack Bailey was promoted to lead developer a couple months ago. Jack is one of Metova’s strongest iOS developers, and he has made across-the-board contributions to our company. Jack joined Metova in 2012 as developer. He previously worked as a developer at Jamais Vu Productions, where he assisted in programming iOS applications. He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in software engineering.

We recently sat down with Jack to ask him a few questions about his work, iOS7 and fantasy football. Read on to learn more.

Tell us what you do here at Metova.

As a lead developer, I make sure other developers are happy. I also help out the company where needed and not just development.

How would you say that working with Metova is different from other development firms?

Metova prides itself (and rightfully so) on making sure developers like myself are treated well. A lot of other companies might simply disregard valuable input that we can provide.

What’s one feature that you feel is essential to a great mobile app?

Fast load times.

What’s one piece of advice you’d tell a young developer looking to get into the mobile app industry?

Don’t be afraid to take on something that you have never done before.

What technological advancement/shift should app developers pay attention to this year?

If you had asked me a month ago I would have said iOS 7. It has one of the fastest adoption rates of iPhone users ever.

What’s your favorite app?

Right now it’s the Yahoo! Fantasy Football app. They’ve made huge strides from previous years in improving the user experience and it shows.

Favorite hobbies?

Playing and listening to music, going to shows, football, traveling.

Most prized possession?

Possessions are overrated; it’s your personal relationships that matter.

What would you like to cross off you “bucket list” next?

I want to travel out west more and visit some national parks. I had the chance to go out to Wyoming last winter and thought it was amazing.
