Lifting, drawing and web development…these are a few of the qualities from our team member spotlight for the month of August! Kolio Kolev has been a web developer at Metova for a little under a year (his 1-year anniversary is next month 👀).

Career changes are scary. It takes a special kind of person to leap into the fire as an adult with bills to pay and family expectations to meet. Metova has been growing at an astounding pace. We've opened an office in Conway and are preparing to open ones in Fayetteville, AR and Pensacola, FL. During such a huge period of growth, we've had several Metovians who have worked hard to give back to the company and helped Metova grow to be an even better place to work.

My name is Ben Coulston, and I'm the Lead Architect here at Metova. I've always wanted to be a developer and part of software because of my love for video games. Ever since I started playing a classic Nintendo console in 1992, I was very interested in the inner-workings of a gaming system. This led to building terribly slow computers from spare parts when I was 10 years old and spending countless hours playing Mario is Missing and The Oregon Trail. I wasn't satisfied with that, and new games with awesome graphics were coming out, so I saved up all of my birthday and Christmas money for a year, and with some help from my parents, built a computer on which I could actually play games with "good" graphics. At the time, my favorite game was Red Alert, a real-time strategy game that allowed you to build up an army base with troops and eventually take over your opponent's base. It's the first game where I started thinking about the metrics that exist within software (money, resource management, cost efficiency, etc.). I started realizing that games (and programs) are all built on pretty basic principles, and software became less magical and more tangible. I realized that I could actually make things like the games I loved someday, so I went for it.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. October 28, 2013 – Officials for the custom mobile app development firm Metova announced today the hiring of Alex Nilson as developer and Skye McCaskey as quality assurance (QA) engineer.

Jack Bailey was promoted to lead developer a couple months ago. Jack is one of Metova’s strongest iOS developers, and he has made across-the-board contributions to our company. Jack joined Metova in 2012 as developer. He previously worked as a developer at Jamais Vu Productions, where he assisted in programming iOS applications. He graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in software engineering.

Developer Mike Cole joined Metova this year after graduating from Tennessee Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a mathematics minor. While in college, he designed and developed the Tennessee Tech Schedule app and completed a research internship at the University of Tennessee Space Institute.

FRANKLIN, Tenn. Aug. 14, 2013 — Custom mobile applications developer Metova has hired Kevin Lind as director of business development, and promoted Jack Bailey from developer to lead developer, company leadership announced today.

Dave McAllister took the helm at Franklin-based app development company Metova in December 2012. When he’s not busy overseeing his daughter’s tea parties, McAllister is leading Metova into a new line of business, developing mobile apps for government agencies and overseeing the young company’s search for more office space as it home-grows developer talent.
