Why You Aren’t Getting Noticed

Marketing is an ever-evolving set of principles, strategies, campaigns, looks, and vibes that help your business put its best foot forward and get your company noticed. However, even the most well-intentioned efforts and plans don’t always pan out. So why exactly aren’t you getting noticed?

Making the most out of your marketing efforts requires more than just a strategy. Often times you aren’t getting noticed because you are being narrow-minded about your efforts and are missing the bigger picture. Being a strong presence as a company is more than a formula, it’s a mindset. So how can you boost your visibility and create a more profound presence? There’s honestly no true science, but a few things to keep in mind when implementing a marketing strategy is to refine and blast a clear voice, have new and original content ready, don’t be afraid to mix it up, and don’t solely worry about what others think.

Clear Voice

A good part of any marketing strategy is a clearly defined voice and tone that emits the vibe and message you want the general public to hear you as. Your voice can be professional and knowledgeable, laid back and creative, whatever works with your business model and strategy. The most important thing to keep in mind about your voice is that it’s yours, so use it. It’s not enough to SAY you’re a laid-back, creative company if that’s not how you present yourself. If you don’t provide copy content, imagery, and general correspondence that reflects the voice you have defined then people will find it unauthentic and unbelievable. So make sure that your voice is crystal clear and you are shouting who you are from the rooftop!

New OG Content

As mentioned with regards to voice, authenticity is key in marketing efforts. With all of the ads, promotions, and endorsements regularly presented on our newsfeeds, on tv, and on the radio, it’s easy to have sub-par content get lost in the mix. For this reason, make sure that your content (whether that be blog content, Instagram images, podcasts, or all of the above) is unique and original. Content that is created in-house or specifically through a third party for your business is certainly more impactful than sharing generated content. While there is a place and time for content that is not your own, the real way to get noticed is to put new, original content out on a regular basis.

No Risk No Reward

As is true in most aspects of business, if there’s no risk involved then there is likely little reward. The same is true with marketing efforts. One reason companies don’t get noticed is because they are afraid to go out on a limb and try something new. Continually pushing the same, monotonous, run-of-the-mill marketing content is not likely to grab a new audience’s attention. It’s okay to try out new imagery, new taglines, and step outside of your comfort zone. If something doesn’t pan out, scrap it and try something new. If you’re constantly afraid of your efforts failing then you are more likely to miss out on trying something different that might just catch the attention of your biggest client ever.

Block Out The Haters

Even though marketing efforts are geared towards impressing people, it’s important to stay true to what your business is at its core. Marketing materials and campaigns that contain passion, truth, and authenticity are more likely to catch viewers than marketing efforts with no heart in them. Because of this, it’s important to not worry too much about what people think. Once you decide who your ideal client is, promote materials for them specifically and don’t worry about what everyone else may think. In the end, whatever makes you happy as a business professional is likely going to work well.

We get it, marketing efforts are supposed to get you noticed and increase visibility. However, sometimes it takes stepping back and evaluating the bigger picture to make sure that you make that happen. In the end, the best you can do is make sure you’re staying true to your company’s message and ideal client. It’s okay to step outside of your comfort zone with marketing efforts. Most of the time, that’s where the magic happens anyway.
