The firm has doubled its development talent, adding 15 developers in nine months
FRANKLIN, Tenn. July 2, 2013 – When Metova started seven years ago, no one could have guessed that the infant custom mobile app development firm would evolve into a multimillion-dollar, Inc. 500 award winning company that continues its upward trajectory even to this day.
In the last nine months, Metova’s developer workforce has almost doubled—from 16 developers in Aug. 2013 to 31 developers in May 2013. The company’s revenues also continue to impress, growing 31 percent year-over-year in the first quarter of 2013.
In 2006, Metova was an early player in the smartphone industry, and an initial partnership with Research in Motion (RIM) made Metova the number one RIM developer in the world.
Three offices and seven years later, Metova has worked with some of the world’s most respected brands, including members of the social, technology, media and health care industries. Within the last year, the firm has developed apps for industry leaders such as Slacker, Yale Locks, Premiere Global Services, Inc. (PGi), Lindsey Software and PrivacyStar, among others.
In April 2012, Metova expanded its development offerings to include back-end, Web and cloud services to support application provisioning primarily using Ruby on Rails. The firm now has at least five developers dedicated to Ruby on Rails development at any given time.
“In the beginning we established lean financial and operational processes and an agile development methodology that Metova still uses as a baseline today,” said Dave McAllister, who took the reigns of Metova as president in December 2012. “It’s these systems, our incredible staff and loyal client base that make Metova’s continued growth possible today.”
In the first quarter of 2013—McAllister’s first quarter as president—Metova’s quarterly revenues grew 31 percent over the first quarter of the previous year.
In the fall of 2012, Metova took on new majority investors associated with A4 Solutions, an Arkansas-based company that provides IT services to the government market. The move opened opportunities for Metova to get in on the ground floor of the adoption of mobile technology in the government space.
Metova is now a technology company made up of Metova and Metova Federal Services. Metova employs more than 85 people with offices in four cities: Nashville, Tenn., Cabot, Ark., Augusta, Ga. and Washington D.C.
“We’re designing custom technology products and services that are tailored to the needs of our public clients, and also developing the government’s interest in mobile,” said John Adams, Metova’s CEO. “The mobile market for the government sector is growing rapidly—much like the commercial market grew a few years ago. In the future, we plan to continue to expand our resources in this area.”
Metova is a full-service development shop with an emphasis in mobile apps for smartphone and tablet platforms, including Android, iOS, BlackBerry and Windows Phone. Its staff assist with all aspects of application development, including strategy, design, programming, testing and quality assurance, as well as providing back-end, Web and cloud services to support application provisioning.
Metova is a 2012 and 2011 Inc. 500|5000 award winner, and the Nashville Technology Council’s 2012 Software Development Team of the Year.
